OUR PASTOR
The Rev. Navin Satyavrata

Rev. Navin Satyavrata was appointed to the First United Methodist Church, Bangor, P.A. as of July 1, 2011. He was born in India and grew up in the Robinson Memorial Methodist Church, Bombay. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Bombay University with majors in Financial Accounting and Auditing and worked in the secular field for over 10 years. In 1994, he resigned as Finance Manager when God called him to full time ministry.

He has been a full time Pastor for almost 20 years and received his M.Div. from Union Biblical Seminary, India. He has served as a Pastor at Emmanuel Nissi Church and the United Basel Mission Vishranthi Church, both in Bombay, India.

In the United States, he has served as Pastor at Clearview UMC, Philadelphia and St. John's UMC, Shamokin, before moving to First United Methodist Church, Bangor, PA where he shares his passion for preaching and teaching. At the Conference level he serves on the Council on Church Finance and Administration, the Structure Review Committee and the Commission on Religion and Race. Locally in Bangor, he serves on the Slate Belt Ministerium and the Ecumenical Group.

Navin is married to Cynthia for 22 years. They have one son, Richard, who is 21 years old and has a Bachelor's in Aviation Management. He is a Multi-Engine Commercial Pilot and a Certified Flight Instructor. He is working as a Flight Instructor as well as pursuing his MBA in General Management.
